Source Test Engineer
AirX Testing ServicesOxnard, CA | Full-time
AirX Testing Services has run air-emissions source tests across California since 1995. We are approved by SCAQMD and CARB, and we are hiring an engineer to lead tests in the field.
What you’ll do
- Lead stack tests at aggregate plants, refineries, power and landfill-gas sites, and manufacturing facilities across California.
- Run CEM trains (NOₓ, CO, O₂, CO₂, SO₂, THC) and manual isokinetic trains (particulate, PM10/PM2.5, condensables) to SCAQMD, CARB and U.S. EPA methods.
- Plan each test: review the permit and rule, write the protocol, coordinate with the facility and the air district, and mobilize the van and crew.
- Calibrate and maintain analyzers, meters, probes and sampling trains; keep calibration-gas and equipment records audit-ready.
- Reduce field data and write the compliance report the customer files with the district, then stand behind it with the agency.
What we’re looking for
- One or more years of source testing or closely related air-compliance field work; we will train a strong candidate with less.
- No degree required. Hands-on field experience and a careful, safety-first approach matter more to us.
- Working knowledge of EPA Methods 1–4, 5, 25A and 3A/7E/10, and of SCAQMD or CARB test methods.
- Comfortable working at heights, climbing stacks and ladders, lifting 50 lb, and spending full days outdoors at industrial sites.
- Valid California driver's license with a clean record; able to travel statewide with occasional overnight stays.
Nice to have
- QSTI certification (any group) or EPA Method 9 visible-emissions certification.
- Prior work with an SCAQMD LAP-approved or CARB-approved contractor.
What we offer
- Competitive pay, $24–$40 per hour based on experience, with health benefits and a retirement plan.
- A 30-year independent firm now backed by Gauge Industrial Group, with new AI-powered technology, a new Oxnard facility and investment in growth.
- Fully equipped company test vans, CEM analyzers, isokinetic sampling trains and calibration gases, so you arrive at every site with everything the method requires.
